No parent wants to hear that their child has succumbed to peer-pressure. The teenage years are a perilous time for experimentation with alcohol and illegal substances. Pressure to fit in and "be cool" can draw young people into dangerous situations.
In a recent news report, a mother was interviewed after finding a bag of Pot Noodles in her son’s knapsack. She recounted the dismay she felt after unzipping the bag and glancing inside. In a Doug Funny lunch tin, she came across a half-empty container of Bombay Bad Boy. “I was completely taken aback. I never thought my son would be the one. He was always such a good boy.” When she confronted him, he asserted that he was just holding them for a friend. “I swear I never ate any of them… I never even heated them up” he claimed.
In a more candid, private interview with the boy, he opened up. “I couldn’t help it. Everyone was trying it, you know? I didn’t have a lot of friends as it was, and there I am with a sandwich. They were always laughing at me. Dull Devon; that’s what they called me. I didn’t want to be dull anymore.” He went on to explain that the flavor (or flavour if you are British and get excited over putting letter u’s where they don’t belong) now had him hooked, and his addiction was leading him to a lot of late night snacking. His entire allowance was going toward daily fixes and it was distracting him from his work. The boy has since been sent to a rehabilitation center, and his mother has begun protesting all British food shipped into America. She is the only member of the group, which protests in her local neighborhood (or neighbourhood, see above) shouting, “Brit snack send it back.” She tells us she has big plans for the group, which is currently looking for its second member.
I hope you’re still reading, because I pulled your chain. I was joshing the whole time. I joshed your chain. When you're done being offended, read on.
